Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus

Year 5 activity week June'26

A Week of Two Halves for Year 5

During the mornings this week, the children in Year 5 quietly took their final assessments, showing courage and determination as they demonstrated what they have learned in Reading, Grammar and Maths throughout Year 5, bringing them towards the end of a very busy year.

The afternoons were devoted to a range of activities, including cupcake baking and decorating. Upper Juniors smelt wonderful, and the cakes looked delicious. The children also enjoyed tie-dyeing T-shirts, creating colourful and creative designs that I hope they will enjoy wearing.

On Wednesday, the children enjoyed a sunny afternoon of circus skills, beginning with learning how to juggle, followed by some plate spinning and then spinning and tossing the diabolo. There was lots of laughter, and many dropped balls, but they carried on with determination as they worked to master the techniques.

Sadly, the rain affected play later in the week. However, the girls still managed to play cricket, albeit in the hall. The boys braved the rain to play some tennis and basketball but were eventually rained off and headed inside for table tennis and cup stacking. Despite the weather, everyone had lots of fun together.

It was a super way to spend the afternoons after hard-working mornings, and I hope that all of Year 5 had lots of fun!
