wb 15th June
This week in English, we designed flying machines, wrote instructions explaining how to use them, and composed emotive letters from a father to his son after being called up to fight in war.
In Maths, we have been busy completing our end-of-year assessments. The children have been incredibly sensible and worked hard throughout the assessment period, demonstrating excellent focus and determination.
In Science, we investigated the question: How does food affect muscle fatigue? We tested our muscles at different times throughout the day and observed the effects, discussing what our results might tell us.
In Geography, we learned all about the journey of chocolate, from the cacao plant to the finished product. The children were fascinated to discover the long journey chocolate takes before it reaches our shops and homes.
In Music, we listened to and compared jazz and ragtime music. The children enjoyed exploring the catchy rhythms and identifying similarities and differences between the two styles.
In PHSE, we discussed emotions and how people can sometimes act upon them. We explored strategies to help us recognise, understand, and manage our emotions effectively.
The week ended with a fantastic Sports Day. The children thoroughly enjoyed the competitive element and, despite the hot weather, showed excellent teamwork, resilience and support for one another throughout the day.
Another great week in LJ2 – well done, everyone!
