Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus

WB 20th April

Finally, a sunny week!

What a lovely way to end the week with some sunshine! The children thoroughly enjoyed their first swimming lesson of the year and were full of excitement as they got into the pool to test their speed and stamina.

In Science, we explored how the eye works and how we see the world around us. The children were fascinated to learn that images are actually formed upside down on the retina, and that the brain processes these so we see everything the right way up.

Maths has been quite challenging this week for Year 5, as we have been learning how to use protractors to measure and draw angles – not angels! For many, this was their first experience using a protractor, and they showed great perseverance as they developed this new skill.

In English, we have finished reading The UnForgotten Coat. The children are now working on creating their own reconstructed stories inspired by the book. They have been enjoying discussions about possible characters and settings, particularly exploring cultures and countries that are very different from the UK.

During RE, we focused on Peter’s denial of Jesus and the events surrounding it, encouraging thoughtful discussion and reflection. In History, we learned about the Battle of Britain, listening to real accounts from RAF pilots. The children were highly engaged and produced some fantastic work on this important period in history.

Wishing you all a sunny and restful weekend.
