To help develop the Year 2 children's understanding of multiplication, we looked at repeated addition using Cuisinaire rods and the two ways to represent a number ie. that 4 + 4 + 4 (3 fours) is the same as 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 (4 threes).  We also applied this thinking to money.
