The children have enjoyed learning about superheroes and the job roles that some people have in the community that help others as part of our People Who Help Us topic.
We have shared the book Super Milly and the Super School Day by Stephanie Clarkson. On Superhero Day, Super Milly helps out her school friends with the best superpower of all… her super-kindness! It's Superhero Day at school, and Super Milly can't wait to wow everyone with her costume and amazing powers! The only problem is she can't actually fly, climb buildings or do force fields. But when Superhero Day doesn't go to plan, Milly realises she only needs her super-kindness to save the day! The children discussed what their superpowers are and have been working at developing these e.g. kindness, super caring etc. We have linked the theme of this book to the roles of Key Workers such as Doctors, Nurses, Delivery drivers etc.
Some questions you could discuss with your children: Who is their superheroes? Why are they superheroes? Ask them if they are a superhero and why?
Today is 'Superhero Day' and the children have really enjoyed dressing up as their favourite character. You could share other stories with your child, one of our favourites in Early Years is 'Supertato.'
