Catholic Social Teaching
The children, staff and Governors at St Mary's value Catholic Social Teaching and work together to prompt the key principles within our school community.
At the core of Catholic Social Teaching (CST) are a number of key concepts and principles. These are:
- Human Dignity
- The Common Good
- Peace
- Option for the poor
- The dignity of work and participation
- Solidarity
- Care of creation
At St Mary's, CST is taught as a discrete unit of our God Matters Religious Education Curriculum. However, its principles are embedded within our whole curriculum and into the ethos of our school. The principles of CST link directly to our STAR values of stewardship, teamwork, agape and respect. They are also intertwined with our school mission statement 'Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus'.
