Lent 2
On Friday, Simon Mole, a poet, visited Upper Juniors.
He led an interactive assembly where he read a selection of his current poems and the children gave their opinions and ideas about what worked well.
The poems were very humourous and inspired the children in the workshops that they enjoyed later in the day.
Simon was able to engage the children in a variety of simple writing tasks that led to all upper juniors writing their own poems using vivid imagery and sophisticated writing.
The children were inspired to write more and experiment with their writing to become poets!
Our new book 'The Sleeper and the Spindle' has allowed us to practise our descriptive writing, look at the conventions and speech and even persuade!
