History
In History, we are learning about celebrations that happen throughout the year. This week, our task was to interview an older person to find out about celebrations and life in the past. Miss Ilderton's Mummy, Mrs Ilderton, came in to talk to us and answer our questions. It was so interesting listening to what her life was like in the past. Many things are different to our lives now such as, back then, there was no pasta or pizza to eat! At mealtime there was lots of meat and vegetables and Mrs Ilderton ate lots of potatoes because she lived on a farm. Clothing was worn in layers, they only had three pairs of shoes for the year, clothes they wore as their Sunday best and they didn't even have t-shirts. Games were mostly played outside as there was less traffic and children got lots of fresh air. Celebrations were small. On birthdays there would be a homemade cake and a party would only be one or two friends coming over for tea. At Christmas, stoclings always had an orange inside, many presents were handmade and Mrs Ilderton showed us her hobby horse (made for her by her Dad). His name is, 'Dobbin,' and we had fun having a go. At the end we played musical statues and musical bumps which were games played at parties when Mrs Ilderton was growing up

Science
We learnt about woodland, coastal, ocean and rainforest habitats and played a fun guessing game about where different animals might live and where different plants might grow. We were so good at the game that we beat Miss Lilley 8 points to 4! We then used what we'd learnt to work as a team and record our findings.
Music
In Music, we are learning about orchestral instruments and we have been looking at string, woodwind, brass and percussion families of an orchestra in particular. Today, we had great fun clicking on different instruments to see what they sound like and even had a go at an instrument quiz. We decided that a trombone sounds a bit like an elephant! We also listened to, 'Do you want to build a snowman,' from Frozen and worked hard to identify which instruments were playing at different points in the song.
