Protected Characteristics
Through a strong family, parish and school partnership, our pupils learn to be kind, work hard and make good decisions and understand that, 'God is at the centre of everything we do'. Our school endeavours to be a safe and purposeful learning environment for all; therefore discrimination of any kind is not tolerated.
Catholic Social Teaching (CST) is the golden thread that is interwoven throughout the school day. This naturally promotes protective characteristics in an age-appropriate way throughout the curriculum at St Mary's.
Everyone is welcomed in this warm and inclusive school. Pupils feel valued and recognise that they all have the opportunity and responsibility to help others and be the best that they can be. One pupil explained, ‘We remember that we need to be ready, respectful and safe, working as a team to encourage everyone.’

The pupils have a strong respect for those of other faiths. Pupils value the support and encouragement given by staff saying, ‘They help people with additional needs which recognises human dignity.’
