Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus

WB 13th April

Summer is here! Well, the summer term at least!

The summer term has begun wonderfully! The children returned after Easter feeling settled, positive, and ready to learn. They have worked incredibly hard this week.

In Science, we explored light and reflection. The children carried out an investigation to find out how light travels and whether it can bend around objects. They were excited to discover that light actually travels in straight lines - fantastic scientific thinking and discussion from everyone!

In English, we have started a new book, The Unforgotten Coat, which tells the story of two boys from Mongolia. The children used photographs and an old coat to make thoughtful predictions about the characters and their backgrounds. It was lovely to see their curiosity and imagination shine through.

PE certainly kept everyone active this week! The children completed a range of fitness tests and saw first-hand how practice leads to improvement. There were some fantastic increases in scores for sit-ups, shoulder taps, squats and planks. Even more importantly, the children recognised how their technique and confidence have improved - something to be very proud of.

In Art, we listened to Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and used the music as inspiration for movement and mark-making. The children really engaged with the powerful music, producing some expressive and thoughtful work.

To end the week, we had a fun and creative Friday afternoon. The children watched clips from older musical theatre productions and then worked together to create their own performances. They acted, sang, and performed confidently in front of their peers - such a joy to watch!

A fantastic start to the new term - well done, everyone!
