Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus

WB 15th June

The Return

It was lovely to have the Year 6’s back in class after their residential trip and to hear that they had enjoyed a wonderful time. I do believe the Year 5’s were thankful that assessment week was over, and we all joined together to continue our curriculum learning.

We have started a new book in English, The Strange Case of the Origami Yoda, and following instructions on how to make one proved incredibly difficult. However, we all tried hard but realised that it was far easier to follow written instructions (with pictures) to achieve a successful outcome. It was easier to start the lesson by making “anything” from folding paper and there were A LOT of paper aeroplanes 😊

We have been investigating again in science - this week looking at how our blood changes if we run a marathon. Good luck to those who are taking part! From our investigation, it seems that our blood increases in temperature, becomes thicker and pumps around the body faster. At the end, we concluded that a space blanket is a useful piece of equipment to prevent heat loss from the body after finishing a marathon.

Have you ever wondered about our use of energy resources and what will replace them when they have run out? UJ3 researched a range of energy sources, both renewable and non-renewable, to find the benefits and drawbacks of each. They rated them according to whether they felt it was more important to have lower energy bills, for a wind turbine to look attractive on a hill, or if environmental impact was the most important factor.

We rounded the week off with a very hot Sports Day - as always, there was lots of fun and plenty of noise from the cheering.

Have a wonderful weekend and see you all on Monday.
