WB 11th May
A busy week of SATs!
Year 6 have worked very hard this week, combining our usual lessons with their SATs assessments as they prepare to leave primary school and show us all just how wonderful they are. Breakfast at the start of the day was a winner, with beans on toast the order of the day and extra pastries on Thursday - yummy!
In Science, we have continued to look at the way light reflects on objects so that we can see them, and the children made periscopes and tried them out by spying on other classrooms. We are practising for Sports Day in PE with lots of long-distance, sprint and relay racing.
A lovely lesson in History saw us discussing and researching the jobs that women took while the men were at war. We concentrated particularly on WW2, where many women made a name for themselves in a man’s world, leading towards the equal positions women have in society today through women’s rights protests.
We had an inky afternoon in Art as we attempted to create monoprints from our memory drawings. Sadly, they did not turn out quite as expected, but nevertheless the children have created some wonderful pieces of artwork based on their childhood memories.
I think a restful weekend is called for after a busy “testing” week. Enjoy!
