Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus

w/c 30.06.25

Science

We are using all of the knowledge we learnt this year regarding eco-friendly materials, properties and how to grow healthy plants to research a way of making a plant pot. We tested the suitability of different materials to see which one would be the best choice for a plant pot. To do this we conducted an experiment on tin foil, newspaper, bubble wrap and fabric and tested whether or not we could shape it, if it held soil or water and if we thought it was eco-friendly.

Music

We are learning about rhythms and looking at single beats, double beats and rests. We used instruments to read and follow a pattern of rhythms that tell the story of St George and the dragon.

DT

This week, after conducting research in class about designs, we finished constructing our Ferris wheels. We added pods using split pins and tested out our axels. They are wonderful!

English

Our new book in class is called, ‘A walk in London’. Whilst reading it a letter fell out and, when Miss Lilley looked, it was addressed to us! She opened it and read it aloud and it was from the author of the book, Salvatore Rubbino. He mentioned how worried he was that people don’t exercise as much these days and urged us to design some posters encouraging people to take up walking. We made some bright and colourful posters to put up.

R.E

We thought about peace and how we can be close to God in peaceful moments. We then made the peace symbol on plates using masking tape to block out the lines.

Maths

This week we’re are looking at position and direction. We followed a set of instructions to create a cube tower. We needed to start with a red cube and then place a black cube on top of it. Next, we had to place a blue cube on top of the black cube. The next instruction was to place a yellow cube below the red cube. Finally, the instruction was given to place a green cube in between the red and black cubes. We worked hard on our listening and following of instructions.
