Running stitch
We have started a new topic and will be designing and making a pouch. Today, we learnt how to tie a knot in one end of the thread and how to thread a needle. Then we had a go at a running stitch. It is a bit tricky but we kept trying.
Decorating our pouch
Earlier in the week we designed how we would like our pouches to look. In this lesson, we followed our designs and added either an egg or a cross using felt. We worked hard and are proud of our results already!
Maths
We have been working on reasoning questions and using our known facts to solve them. Today Miss Lilley asked us which would be better to measure the playground with, a ruler or a metre stick? Some of us thought a ruler would be best because the numbers on it are smaller so it’s easier to count. Some of us thought a metre stick would be better because it’s longer and we can measure quickly. We went outside to test our theories and had a go at trying to work out the length of the playground. Give or take the odd wonky line, we think it is about 39 metres. Rulers are definitely not the best tool to use (we never reached the end!)
