Writing
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fantastic half term it has been in LJ2!
This week in English, the children became journalists, exploring the features of newspaper writing. They created catchy headlines, wrote detailed factual reports, and even used rhetorical questions to engage their readers. The class thoroughly enjoyed stepping into the role of reporters.
In Science, the children investigated how shadows change depending on the distance of the light source. Through practical experiments, they developed their understanding of how light travels and how shadows are formed.
In RE, the children learned all about Hinduism. We were very fortunate to hear from Mrs K, who shared her faith and explained how she practices Hinduism in her daily life. The children asked thoughtful and respectful questions.
In Computing, the children focused on E-safety and the importance of staying safe online. They showed great maturity when discussing how to make safe and sensible choices in the digital world.
The children also marked Children’s Mental Health Week by exploring the theme of belonging. They created maps to show the different places and communities where they feel they belong. The class took part in a range of movement activities, helping them understand the link between physical and mental health. They also discussed that it is okay not to always feel happy and shared strategies to support themselves during those times.
It has been a fabulous half term, and I am so proud of all the children’s hard work and enthusiasm. I wish you all a restful and enjoyable half term break.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Mrs Evans
