    Welcome Back to Upper Juniors!

It has been wonderful returning to school and welcoming our new Year 5/6 class. We have had a fantastic first week together and the children have already impressed us with their enthusiasm and creativity.

In English, we explored our whole-school book, The Fox and the Star. The children then wrote their own versions of the story, and their imaginative ideas and beautiful writing have been a joy to read.

In Maths, Year 6 have begun working on place value, building confidence with reading, ordering and understanding numbers. We are looking forward to developing these skills further over the coming weeks.

Science has been a real highlight! We learnt about the life cycle of plants and dissected flowers to identify their different parts. The children thoroughly enjoyed this hands-on investigation.

In Reading, we have started our new class novel, Beetle Boy by M.G. Leonard. The children are already getting to know the main character and are intrigued by the mysterious events unfolding in the story.

In RE, we learnt about Abraham and Joseph, exploring how they remained faithful to God's covenant. The children also reflected on the theme of happiness, writing thoughtful pieces about what brings them joy.

What a wonderful start to the year! We can't wait to see what the children will achieve and produce next week.
