Happy New Year to you all!
I hope you had a lovely Christmas break.
This week in English, we have started our new book Winter’s Child. The children have worked hard writing postcards and poems inspired by the beautiful winter scenes in the story. In Maths, Year 4 have been exploring different written multiplication methods and practising using these confidently in class.
In Reading, we have been developing our prediction skills by thinking carefully about what the story The Firework-Maker’s Daughter might be about. We also enjoyed an exciting visit from Vodafone Three, who taught us about stop-motion animation and how movies are made using still images. We had lots of fun creating our own Lego movies!
In PE, we began our new gymnastics topic, using apparatus to develop our skills, and started to explore chest passing in netball. In RE, we launched our new topic by reflecting on the Christmas story, sequencing the events and learning about the important role of the angels. In Computing, we began using a music program to create our own compositions – there was certainly a cacophony of sounds coming from the computing suite!
Well done, LJ2 – a fantastic start to the year! 🎉
