This week in English, pupils participated in two exciting literary events: BBC 500 Words and National Poetry Day. Both events encouraged pupils to celebrate the joy of writing, explore their creativity and express their ideas imaginatively through stories and poetry. 

In Maths, pupils began exploring their new addition and subtraction unit. They have been developing their mathematical understanding through a range of practical resources and representations, including Base 10, place value counters, double-sided counters, number lines, part-whole models and bar models. 

In Art, pupils embraced their creativity by making their own colours using flour, water and a selection of spices, including turmeric, nutmeg, paprika and cinnamon. Inspired by prehistoric artists, they then created textured ‘cave walls’ on sugar paper using glue and a variety of materials, such as couscous, bulgur wheat, lentils, seeds and sand.
