WB 29 September
National Poetry Day
To celebrate National Poetry Day, each class had to learn a poem to read in front of the whole school! Out of options we were given, we chose Miss Lilley's favourite poem, 'Halfway Down,' by A.A Milne. Her Granny taught it to her as a child and now Miss Lilley has taught it to us. We liked how it sounded and that it was written by the person that wrote the Winnie the Pooh stories. Over the last week we have practised hard at home with out Mummies and Daddies (thank you parents) and blew everybody's socks off in the recital because we were so loud and clear! Here is a video of us having one last practice before we went into the hall (not that we needed it, we were perfect already!)
Well done Infants 2!

Maths - Year 1
We have been learning the greater than > and less than < sign as well as equals =. We used this crocodile mouth craft to help us see which number is greatest/gets eaten by the crocodile!
English
This week we have learnt all about poetry as October 2nd is national Poetry Day. To tie in with our current book, 'Lost & Found, ' which is about a penguin, we chose penguins as our poetry focus. First, we thought of adjectives to describe them before planning our own poems. We then published our poems in neat but also onto a picture of a penguin to make penguin shape poems. Have a look, they are fantastic!
Black History Month
This month we will be celebrating Black History Month with a number of activities and lessons. This week we have come into class to songs sung by people of colour. This morning we had a great time discovering and dancing to, ‘Proud Mary,’ by Tina Turner because, what a tune!

Science
In Science we are looking at plants. For the last few weeks we have been growing a bean plant at school as a class. This week we looked at it very closely with a magnifying camera and discussed all of the different parts and what they do. In our books we then had a go at drawing a plant diagram and labelling it.
