This week in English, we continued our exploration of Tar Beach. Pupils have enjoyed creating their own scripts, while further developing their writing skills through the effective use of expanded noun phrases and possessive apostrophes. 

In Reading, pupils were intrigued to discover a new character, Ishta. Who exactly is she, and how much does she know about Tamarind’s mum? The children are looking forward to uncovering more as the story unfolds. 

In Mathematics, pupils have continued to develop their understanding of place value by comparing and ordering three-digit and four-digit numbers. 

During Art, pupils had the opportunity to explore how natural materials can be used to create pigments and produce a variety of colours. 

Our Science lesson was particularly engaging, as pupils became young investigators and explored the question: Does the hardness of a toothbrush affect how effectively it cleans? Pupils thoroughly enjoyed testing a range of toothbrushes and toothpastes and comparing their effectiveness. Don’t be surprised if they have some very specific toothbrush requests the next time you go shopping!
