Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus

WB 19th January

In UJ2 this week, we have had a very exciting and productive time across the curriculum.

In English, the children have been writing persuasive adverts and showed fantastic creativity when convincing people to bring lost items to the Department of Odds and Ends. They designed eye-catching logos and used rhetorical questions and imperative verbs effectively to persuade their audience.

In Science, we learned about the Moon. The children carried out research and were fascinated by how many moons each planet has. This led to some excellent discussions about how the Moon orbits the Earth and the different phases it goes through.

In Maths, Year 6 have begun their decimals unit and are thriving. They have shown strong skills in rounding, adding, and subtracting decimals.

In ICT, the children are creating digital books using Book Creator and are enjoying exploring how to combine text, images, and creativity in their work.

On Friday, we were delighted to welcome author Philip Kavvadias, who visited to talk about his book. The children were fascinated by his insights and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the writing process.

Finally, the children are thoroughly enjoying swimming on Fridays and love having it as a great way to end the week.
