WB 15th September
Year 1 Maths - we have been learning about numbers in words: matching and writing numbers in numerals and words through lots of activities.
Science
This term we are looking at plants. We played a game of, 'Plant or not,' in class and were surprised that seaweed is a plant!. We then went outside for a plant hunt. We found plants taller than us, plants with many leavers, plants with a flower, plants growing in strange places and a tree with a strong trunk.
We are also conducting a class experiment to see if seeds need water to start growing. We have two bean seeds in cups; one with water and one without. We will observe them and see what happens to each.
R.E
In R.E this week we are learning the story of Noah and his ark. We had lots of fun as an animal procession that moved around the classroom before, 'going onto the ark'. 'Noah' told us, "Get on the boat!" and on we marched!
English
In English today we looked at emotions. We played a fun game of, ‘Guess the emotion,’ and tried to read each other’s faces.
Mastering number
We are starting a new programme called, ‘Mastering number’. It is a short burst of extra maths practice every afternoon. Today, Year 1 children looked at different ways of making 5.
