Year 1 Maths - we have been learning about numbers in words: matching and writing numbers in numerals and words through lots of activities.
Science
This term we are looking at plants. We played a game of, 'Plant or not,' in class and were surprised that seaweed is a plant!. We then went outside for a plant hunt. We found plants taller than us, plants with many leavers, plants with a flower, plants growing in strange places and a tree with a strong trunk.
We are also conducting a class experiment to see if seeds need water to start growing. We have two bean seeds in cups; one with water and one without. We will observe them and see what happens to each.
English
As a school, we are looking at the book, 'The Midnight Panther,' by Poonam Mistry. In the story, the panther feels like he is not good enough and doesn't belong anywhere. He tries to change himself to look like the other cats by adding leaves from the jungle to his coat. We discussed different cats and where in the world they came from. We decorated pictures of various cats. The final results are very creative!
Music
This week we listened to different beats in a song, and we used our bodies to demonstrate different pulses. We had great fun clapping our hands and legs to the beats of the song. We tried to clap fast and slowly according to the song played.
