LJ2's learning this week
What a wonderful, jam packed week we’ve had!
Our focus this week has been about celebrating friendship — listening to cheerful friendship songs, creating a colourful friendship quilt and wearing odd socks to remind us that we are all unique and special in our own ways.
In RE, we held a touching Remembrance Service in the hall. Together, we laid wreaths to honour those who have served and wrote beautiful, heartfelt prayers to God on the theme of remembrance.
In History, we travelled back in time to explore Skara Brae, a remarkably preserved Neolithic village in Orkney, Scotland. Uncovered by a storm in 1850, this UNESCO World Heritage Site gave us a fascinating glimpse into prehistoric life. We became archaeologists, studying clues to work out how different parts of the stone houses were used.
On Wednesday, we welcomed the fantastic author Sue Palmer! She spoke about how her childhood adventures exploring the Cornish coast have inspired her writing — and we all left feeling truly inspired to create stories of our own.
In English, we continued reading The BFG, sharing lots of laughter at Roald Dahl’s hilarious use of language — ask your child what a whizzpopper is!
On Thursday, our learning came to life during our visit to the Roald Dahl Museum, where we discovered more about the author’s incredible imagination and saw many of the real places that inspired his stories.
What a week full of friendship, creativity, and discovery! 🌈📚
Well done Lower Junior 2!
