Science
We observed our sweet pea plants for the last time. Some of them are so tall! We are able to describe not only what a seed needs to grown but also how to keep a plant healthy. We have taken our plants home and will try to keep them growing by transferring them to bigger pots and making sure to give them everything they need. Hopefully we will see flowers soon.
A few weeks ago, we put one seed in the cupboard and experimented to see if it would grow without light. The seed did germinate, and a plant did grow, but it is white and unhealthy. Miss Lilley has taken it home over half term to see if it will improve and become healthier with sunlight, fresh soil and a stake to keep it straight. We will look at it in a week’s time to see what happens.
History
We looked at features of castles, learning about battlements, towers and a portcullis amongst other things. We then worked together to design our own castles and labelled the parts.
Art
Using our knowledge of how to create texture with paint, we created pictures of flowers (to link to our science topic of plants) with objects such as toothbrushes, LEGO bricks, shells and stampers.
P.E
We worked in pairs to develop our reflexes and catching skills as our partner dropped a ball for us to catch within two bounces. We then challenged ourselves to catch it whilst balancing on one leg and to catch it after only one bounce.
