Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus

WB 5th January

The start of a new and exciting term.

Welcome back to school! It has been lovely to see how well the children have settled back in after their holidays and continued to work hard across all subjects.

In English, we have started a new book, The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan. We are slowly exploring what this mysterious “thing” is and how it works, creating descriptive sentences, using subordinating conjunctions, and finishing the week with a recount of how the boy discovered the lost thing.

The children are very excited to be learning about the Tudors and Henry VIII. In our first history lesson, they used secondary sources to decide whether Henry was a ruler or a tyrant, leading to some thoughtful discussions.

Our science topic this term is Earth and Space. We began by considering whether we live in a geocentric or a heliocentric solar system, posing questions about how we could test both theories.

Tag rugby is the focus for PE this term, and the children have already got to grips with the shape of a rugby ball, how to pass it to one another, and how differently it bounces compared to a netball! Lots of energy was used practising passing, ending with some excellent games of tag rugby.

A big thank you to the whole class for such a positive start to the new term. They have engaged brilliantly with the new topics and produced some great work. Well done! 👏
