Week 4 Update – Upper Juniors 3
This week, the children spent a fascinating afternoon immersed in science, discovering the magic of solutions and how different substances interact.
In RE, we explored how Christians bring harmony to the world through acts of goodwill, prayer, and charitable work, reflecting on the many ways faith can inspire positive change.
In English, our journey with the incredible story of Philippe Petit continued. The children took on the role of journalists, crafting news bulletins and newspaper reports covering the daring events of August 1974. They also began preparing persuasive speeches from Philippe’s perspective, hoping to convince the judge not to reprimand him for his breathtaking walk between the Twin Towers.
Our Art lesson brought the long-awaited making of the collograph, to be able to use it for printing purposes next lesson. This allowed the children to be creative, transferring a range of materials to a plate that will be painted and provide the background to draw elements of space, such as astronauts, planets or nebula.
The week drew to a close on a high note as St Mary’s celebrated National Poetry Day on Thursday. The children had fun writing and performing limericks, and proudly presented our class poem, Macavity the Mystery Cat, to the rest of the school. I was a very proud teacher listening to them in the hall – they were word perfect!
Another incredibly busy, creative, and productive week in Upper Juniors 3!
