Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus

WB 1st December

A Week of Photos!

UJ3 have taken part in a wide variety of activities and experiments during lessons this week.

In Science, they investigated reversible changes - timing how long different materials such as butter, sugar, marshmallows and chocolate took to melt, and then how long they took to solidify again. The children enjoyed recording their data in tables and watching the food items melt and reform.

In RE, UJ3 created a range of beautiful baubles for our Jesse Tree, linking the theme of preparation for the second coming of Jesus during Advent with their own prayers. They have the opportunity to read out their prayers during morning worship.  Currently, our Prayer Bag is being taken home by some children, who look and discuss with family the artefacts inside and then write a short prayer in the book, again to be read during worship in the morning.

PE on Friday takes the form of Dance, and this week we have been practising a Scottish reel. The children have been working together in small groups, listening carefully to the beat of the music to keep in time. They used these reels to create sequences as part of our dance topic this term.

In English, we have started a new book called Rain Player, which tells the story of the game of Pok-a-Tok from the ancient Maya civilisation. The children have already produced some fantastic narrative writing, using dialogue to help move the story forward.

Finally, Year 6 had the opportunity today to walk to St Luke’s Church to visit the Christmas tree display.

Another busy week!
