Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus

WB 17th November

What’s Been Happening This Week in UJ3?

This week in UJ3, we have been busy using a range of language techniques in English to write narratives based on The Promise by Nicola Davies. In this sequel-style task, the children explored the moment a young thief steals a bag, expecting money or food, only to discover that it contains nothing but acorns - alongside a promise to plant them. Using this as a framework, the children produced their own imaginative stories, enriched with figurative and descriptive language that truly brought their writing to life. It has been a wonderful week of hard work and creativity.

With Advent approaching, our RE lessons have focused on the Parable of the Ten Virgins and the theme of watchfulness. We discussed how we are called to prepare for Jesus’s second coming so that we do not miss it.

A loud and energy-filled PE session saw UJ3 putting their netball skills to use - particularly chest passes - as they competed in fast-paced games of Dodgeball.

In Science, the children explored why different materials vary in their levels of transparency. They investigated a range of objects and classified them as transparent, translucent, or opaque, using their knowledge to explain why certain materials are suited to particular purposes in everyday life.

Beautiful singing has filled the classroom this week. The children have begun practising their favourite Christmas carols, and in Music, they are continuing to work on their Egyptian-themed songs taught by Ms Garcia.

Have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the sunshine - but remember to wrap up warm against the cold!
