Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus

WB 15th December

The Final Countdown!

Christmas week has been a whirlwind of activity in school, wonderfully filled with singing, dancing, concerts and Masses. We spent time reflecting on how we can prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ in our lives, remembering the events of Advent as we lit the candles on our wreath and sang about the Nativity story. Watching the children perform so beautifully in school and in church has been a joy - we loved every moment.

There was lots of popping and fizzing in science this week during our final experiments. We mixed Coca-Cola and Mentos, observing the irreversible reaction as the fizz shot straight out of the bottle and flowed across the ground. This was followed by adding vinegar and baking soda to a balloon and watching it expand depending on how much baking soda was used. Lots of fun and great learning!

We also finally finished sewing our soft toys, and the children are extremely proud of their efforts. We created everything from PlayStation controllers to frogs, fish, blobs and even a fork!

English writing saw us step back in time – 4025 years to be precise – to the Ancient Mayans and compare the legacies they left the world to those left by more recent civilisations.

As the children finish a very busy half-term and head into the holidays, they should take time to reflect on the huge amount of work they have covered over the past weeks and feel proud of their many achievements and successes.

Finally, I would like to wish you all a very peaceful and restful break. Enjoy celebrating with your families and friends over the holidays, whatever you may be doing and I look forward to seeing you all again on the 6th of January, in the New Year. 😊
