Learning and loving on our journey with Jesus

w/c 16.06.25

English

In our new English book, the characters help to serve food at a community soup kitchen. We used a range of sentence types to create our own adverts for a soup kitchen including commands and questions. We then made sure they had information on them so people know when and where the kitchen will be.

Geography

In Geography today our task was, 'Where in the world is China?'

We remembered the continents we learnt about back in Spring and found Asia on the map. First, we had a guess about where we thought China might be before working together to look in an Atlas and see if we were right…we were not. Now that we knew where China was, we then found it in our books, labelled it and coloured it purple. We also found and labelled the UK.

Library Trip

We walked down to our local library and were given a tour. We learnt about what libraries do, how they work and that we can take out thirty books in one go if we want to! We soon discovered though that we wouldn’t, thirty books is rather heavy! We then got the chance to explore and choose two books to borrow. Some of us headed to the dinosaur section, some to the picture books and some found Roald Dahl because we are currently reading, ‘Matilda,’ in class with Miss Lilley.

Once we had checked out our books, we finished our trip with a scavenger hunt which was lots of fun. Our books are due back in the 9th July.

DT

Today we built the frames of our ferris wheels. It was tricky because we had to remember not to cut off the front of the boxes but we all got there in the end. Thank you parents for bringing in recycling for us, we had lots of options to choose from.

Baby bird update

Heather (the lady looking after the baby birds we found last week) is now starting to wean the babies. They are huge compared to last week. We have watched the videos and are amazed at how quickly birds change...it is so much quicker than humans which are quite slow growing! We are enjoying the fact that we are able to get updates sent to us.

So big in such little time!
