In Phonics this week, we have been recapping sounds we learnt at the beginning of term. We have re-capped the sounds: s, a, t, p, i, n, m and d and have practised writing them during our handwriting lessons.

In continuous provision, we practised identifying the sounds we have learnt by identifying the sounds at the beginning of the words for the pictures and sticking them under the picture. We also had to identify all the sounds in a word for a picture, and cut them out and stuck them in the correct order. We practised our letter formation and word writing by writing words we can identify in webs and writing out the sounds to form words.. In RE, we learnt about the sign of the cross - which we do before and after each prayer during the day at school - and what it means. We also saw different people around the world doing the sign of the cross in their different languages.

In drawing club, we watched 'Roadrunner' On Tuesday, we drew Roadrunner. On Thursday, we had to create an invention for the coyote to be able to travel super-fast. Each day, we wrote a magic letter and a magic number on our drawings. These letters and numbers activated magic powers on our drawings – such as Roadrunner being able to fly.

In continuous provision, we matched pumpkins together – the intal sound to the picture of the object. We played a game of i-spy where we had to spy things beginning with that sound and place a cube onto them.

In Maths, we have been learning how to compare mass and compare capacity. We then moved onto patterns and have explored patterns and how to continue simple patterns. In provision, we have practised our number skills and counting skills. We have created and continued simple patterns and given a big bear and small bear the correct sized foods.

In PE, we played games where certain words meant me had to do certain actions. For example: slither like a snake, or sleep like a tired lion. We also played games where names of pasta were said and we had to do a particular action.

We painted our clay spiders from last week. We have done leaf rubbings and created leaf people by sticking leaves to a body template. We painted leaves to create amazing designs. We did an observational drawing of pumpkins, conkers and pine cones. We painted Roadrunner, linked to our Drawing Club topic. We created Autumn wreaths using the Autumn resources that we collected on our Autumn walk last week.
