In Phonics this week, we have learnt the sounds h, b, f and L and have practised writing them during our handwriting lessons. We practised identifying the sounds we have learnt by identifying the sounds at the beginning of the words for the pictures and sticking them under the picture. We also practised our letter formation and word writing by writing words in flour. In RE, we recapped the story of creation and spoke about things we love about God's world.
In drawing club, we read the story 'Anansi the Spider'. On Monday, we drew Anansi. On Thursday, we drew the big, greedy fish that trapped Anansi. On Friday, we created a trap that Anansi could use to get fruit from the tree. Each day, we wrote a magic letter and a magic number on our drawings. These letters and numbers activated magic powers on our drawings – such as Anansi being able to ice skate.
In continuous provision, we had spider-related activities, such as ordering spiders and spider webs linked to our size ordering in Maths. We drew spiders and made spiders using our handprints. We also made spiders out of clay and will be painting those next week.
In Science, we went on an Autumn walk and observed what Autumn-related things we could see and ticked them off. We also collected things like pine cones, leaves and conkers that we can use to make our Autumn wreaths next week.
In Maths, we have been learning about more than fewer/less than. In continuous provision we practised the skills we had learnt. We also spoke about how to sort objects and sorted pasta into different groups - by shape and colour.
In PE, we played red light, amber light, green light. When each colour was said the children had to do a particular action.
On Tuesday, we had a special visitor come – a superhero who needed our help. She was on a mission to stop Bad Bopper from cutting down all the trees to make dance floor. We had to go on an adventure. We had to collect conkers, flew like butterflies, slithered like snakes and marched like soliders. When we came near Bad Bopper, we had to freeze like statues so he didn't see us. Bad Bopper doesn't like children because they eat his cake.
We managed to sneak in and steal his cake. We spoke to Bad Bopper and told him to look after our planet by putting rubbish in the bin and not to cut down all the trees and to make sure he plants new trees.
