What a fantastic week we have had in Infant 1! This week has been filled with imagination, adventure, history and plenty of energetic PE!
📚 English – Billy and the Beast
Our English lessons have been great fun this week as we have been exploring the wonderful story Billy and the Beast. Our imaginations have certainly been running WILD!
We were very excited to discover that our caretaker had apparently found some mysterious footprints on the playground! 👣 Now, we know that this wasn't really a beast visiting our school, but that didn't stop us from using our imaginations and escaping into the magical world of the story.
We decided that Billy must have been incredibly brave and courageous, saving her friends from a terrible beast! The children have loved pretending, predicting what might happen next and bringing the story to life through their own ideas.
🏖️ History – Holidays in the Past
In History, we have been travelling back in time to discover how holidays were different in the past. We looked at some old photographs and noticed something very interesting – the photographs were black and white!
Some of the children decided that the pictures looked so old that they must have been from the Stone Age! 🪨 While we may not have travelled quite that far back in time, it was wonderful to hear the children's ideas and questions as we compared holidays from the past with holidays today.
🏃 PE – Moving, Playing and Creating
As always, we have loved our PE lessons! We have been learning how to use different pieces of equipment to create our own games and activities. The children have enjoyed working together, taking turns and thinking creatively about how they can use the equipment.
We are also learning that warm-ups and cool-downs are very important. We warm up our bodies before exercising and cool down afterwards to help keep ourselves safe and healthy. ⭐
What a wonderful week of storytelling, imagination, history and active learning! We can't wait to see where our learning adventures take us next! 🌈
